I shudda been a bum!
It's not that I'm not
responsible,
I pay my bills when I can,
but part of me really can
relate to that state of mind,
and it also has to do with
people like me who are always
searching,
and, in our society,
searching could only mean
LOST
and many bums seem to be
a little bit lost,
and it's not that I'm
completely lost,
just lost enough to
tell me I need to
search for something,
and I may have to become
slightly irresponsible
to do it,

Fuck the bills
Fuck getting a job
Fuckit,
--
and searching is really
important, I think,
because it keeps the mind
active,
and
gives me a reason to keep going,
and one of the greatest
bums who ever lived said
the following:
"every person, I suppose, has
their eccentricities
but in an effort to be
normal
in the world's
eye
they overcome them
and therefore
destroy their
special calling."
And his name was Charles Bukowski,
a great bum indeed,
So, bums, it would seem,
are not that bad,
and I think they deserve
more credit,
for having the audacity, bravery,
and just plain balls, for being,
in spite of society,
exactly who they want to be.
